GETTING STARTED

City living often means high costs and high emissions. Travelling around can be difficult with crowded roads and few parking spaces. Our solution? A Toyota Hybrid shared car ready to go when you are. As a member of YUKÕ you’ll have access to a car parked nearby whenever you need it, making city mobility simple and environmentally friendly all at great value for money. And, as we take care of tax and insurance, fuel & parking, you can drive worry-free.

Verification can take up to 48 working hours. 

Anyone between the ages of 22-75. We accept automatic and manual licenses.  You must hold a full driver’s license for at least 24 months. Most international licenses are accepted, however, there are a few exceptions due to insurance requirements. Check it out with Memberships@yuko.toyota.ie. If you have a non-EU license and have been a resident in Ireland for over 12 months, you will need to exchange your license for an Irish license or apply for an Irish driver’s license. Yes, if you have had no more than 6 penalty points for minor offenses in the last 5 years you are still eligible to join.

Click the hamburger menu in the app and scroll to “My Account”. Here you will be able to update your member details, licence, and payment method.

No, you cannot add your own insurance to the booking. Toyota’s fully comprehensive insurance is included in the booking cost.

Yes, once the driver is a verified member of YUKÕ, they can drive the vehicle if the person booked on to the vehicle sends an email to Support@yuko.toyota.ie with the email address of the additional driver and the booking reference number. Our support team will confirm this person has been added to your booking via email, and they can then drive under your booking.

A hybrid combines a petrol engine with an electric motor, powered by a battery which the car charges for itself. You never have to plug it in. Every time you use the brakes, ‘regenerative braking’ recharges the batteries. All of our YUKÕ’s are hybrid and travel in electric mode 80% of the time. 

This may be due to a number of reasons:

  • You might not having a payment method attached to your account. You can re‑add a payment method by clicking on the account section of your app, then Add payment card.
  • If a previous payment did not go through, you will need to contact support@yuko.toyota.ie to clear your balance.
  • If your driver’s license has expired, you will need to update this in the account section of your app.

You can cancel your booking for FREE up to 24 hours prior to your booking start time. If you cancel after this you will be charged.

MAKING A BOOKING

Once you are an approved member you will be able to make a booking on the app. Select the date/time and model you would like and the locations available will populate on the app.

All our cars are keyless and powered by Bluetooth. Please ensure you have your Bluetooth and Location Services turned on your phone. At the beginning of your booking, please click “start journey” on your app in the “current journey” section. A lock and unlock icon will appear on the screen and can be used to access the car throughout your trip. Please note, if you are early to your booking, you can only start your booking 5 minutes in advance. 

If you are unable to find your vehicle at the start of your journey, you can easily locate it using your app. Simply click on the current journey section of the app and click find my vehicle. This will open a map and walk you to your car.

Yes, you can extend your trip in 15-minute intervals directly through the app. If you need a longer extension (e.g. a day or two), our support team can assist you, provided the vehicle hasn’t already been booked already by another customer.

Please report any damage or uncleanliness in the car at the beginning of your trip. This can be done on the app by clicking the question mark in the top right-hand corner of the screen. 

Yes, you can travel the island of Ireland. 

  • As we all know the cars are shared amongst members. Please keep that in mind and leave the cars how you’d like to find them.
  • Smoking or transporting pets within a YUKÕ is not allowed and carries a fine of €200.
  • Please do your best to leave the cars clean, free of litter, and don’t forget to pick up your belongings. There is a €50 penalty if a vehicle is left excessively dirty.
  • Remember to turn off all lights and windows when you’ve finished using the car. Any action that results in the vehicle’s battery going flat is a €50 penalty.
  • You always leave automatic cars in Park (P).
  • Click End Journey at the end of your trip to avoid a €50 late penalty.
  • Make sure to leave more than ¼ tank of fuel after booking.
  • Do not leave the car on a one-way trip. Leave it back to the designated street you picked it up from. If this is breached, a penalty of €150 would be charged. 

If you picked your car up from a station located within Dublin City Council territory you can park for free in any public parking space in this area.

If you collected your car from a station located outside of this territory, please pay for parking, or if you are parking in any private parking space. Remember to always park legally!

Return the car to the designated street you picked it up from. If there is no parking on this street, please leave the car within a 5-minute walk from the designated station. 

  • Before your booking starts: If you notice a flat tyre do not start your journey. Please contact our Support Centre immediately at 016-918-816 so we can assist you and arrange an alternative vehicle if needed.
  • During your booking: If you get a flat tyre while driving, please contact our Support Centre immediately at 016-918-816. They’ll help you get back on the road safely. You will be charged for the cost of the replacement which is €150.

REFUELLING

Our maintenance teams refuel the YUKÕ vehicles on a regular basis. After heavy use, the fuel might be low. If you are low on fuel during your booking and need to refuel, there is a fuel card located in the driver side sun visor or glovebox. You will find the pin for this in the current journey section of your app.
Only Circle K garages will accept this fuel card. Remember to enter the reg and mileage each time, you can find the mileage on the vehicle's odometer. All our cars take petrol, and all vans take diesel. Please use the correct fuel or you will be charged for the drainage charge. Always leave the car with at least 25% fuel for the next driver to avoid getting fined.

Circle K garages accept our fuel cards. They will not be accepted in any other station so please bear this in mind or you will have to pay for the fuel yourself. View all Circle K garages that accept fuel card here: https://www.circlek.ie/service-station/site-locator/

PAYMENTS 

No, you will only pay for what you use!

The hire cost is debited to the card on your account 24 hours before your bookings start time. When you bring a vehicle early, you will still be charged for the full length of the original booking made. If you travel more than 50km, you will be charged per km at the applicable rate

Our prices start at €9 per hour or €52 a day. Before you confirm your booking, you will be shown the trip charge. At the end of your journey, the in‑car technology will work out how far you’ve travelled which you will then be charged for. You can travel up to 50km at no additional cost and only €0.25 per km after this. If you book for multiple days, your free mileage accumulates across the full booking period.

For example:

  • If you book for 3 days → you get 150 km free in total.
  • If you drive 70 km on Day 1, and only 10 km on Day 2 and 3, your total is 90 km, which is within your 150 km allowance, so no extra charges apply.
     

If you go over your total free allowance, you’ll only be charged €0.25 per extra km.

Eflow tolls will be automatically charged to a member’s account a few days after their booking has been completed. Speeding fines / parking fines will be re‑issued in the member’s name and forwarded to the driver in question including an additional admin fee of €25.

There is an insurance excess of €1850. The driver is responsible for the first €1850 of damage caused to the vehicle, this is charged to the member's account immediately after incident. If the damage ends up being less than €1850 you will have the difference refunded to you.

You will be charged for your booking 24 hours before it is due to start. 

To apply a promotion code:

  • Open the main menu in the YUKÕ app
  • Tap on the “Promo Codes” section
  • Enter your code and it will automatically apply to your next booking

We do not have a referral programme in place, however, we regularly run promotions and special offers, so keep an eye on your email inbox (spam too!) and follow us on our socials to stay updated.

ACCIDENTS

We’re here for you to contact immediately so we can give you the best advice of what to do and put a plan together for whatever may be needed, such as vehicle recovery. Phone YUKÕ Emergency Support: 016 918 816.

If your accident occurs outside of our office hours and the car needs to be recovered, you can call our 24/7 roadside assistance team on: 016 373632.

Should you be at fault for the accident, you’ll have to pay an excess as per our current terms and conditions. If the other party is at fault, YUKÕ Toyota Car Club’s fully comprehensive insurance will cover the cost.
